Some of the other books I’ve been reading this month

postpretty_roundup
I don’t always review every book I’ve read, but that doesn’t mean I’ve not enjoyed it! So I figured I would post a little mini round up of some of some of the other books I've read this month. I'm a big fan of Entangled Publishing’s Brazen line of contemporary romances, I love the distinctive covers and always add every new ebook to my "must buy" list.

17413427Protecting What’s His
Line of Duty #1
Tessa Bailey
Publication date: 23rd February 2013

She’s running from the law, and the law wants her bad.

The opportunity was just too damn delicious for Ginger Peet to pass up. The purse full of money she finds—$50,000 to be exact—could give her and her teen sister the new start they need. So she grabs the cash, her gothy sibling, and their life-sized statue of Dolly Parton, and blows outta Nashville in a cloud of dust. Chicago, here we come...

Turns out, Chicago has some pretty hot cops. Hot, intense, naughty-lookin’ cops like Derek Tyler, who looks like he could eat a girl up and leave her begging for more. And more. Tempting as he is, getting involved with the sexy homicide lieutenant next door poses a teensy problem for a gal who’s on the lam. But one thing is certain—Derek’s onto her, and he wants more than just a taste.

And as far as he’s concerned, possession is nine-tenths of the law.

I really enjoyed Protecting What's His, Derek is all alpha male and grrrrrrr and Ginger is the older sister you can't help but admire and fall in love with. Ginger has brought her teenage sister up by herself sacrificing everything to ensure she doesn't have the same crappy upbringing she had. On the run from her horrendous mother Ginger really doesn't want to attract the attention of the bossy, suspicious and intense cop Derek but that's exactly what she's done.

Their romance is out of this world fantastic, you really need to check out Derek's dirty talking it's worth the price of the ebook alone. I'll definitely be adding Tessa Bailey to my contemporary romance author's to watch out for list. You need to read it!! 4 out of 5.

Maverick Montana #1
Rebecca Zanetti
Publication date: 25th March 2013

Never challenge a cowboy in the courtroom…

Surveying the proposed site for a high-end golf course should have been a breeze for spunky Landscape Architect Sophie Smith. But when this born-and-bred city girl is suddenly—and quite literally—swept off her feet by a sexy cowboy on horseback, she realizes that the country life has some serious (and seriously steamy!) possibilities. That is, until she finds out exactly who her smokin’-hot wrangler really is.

Cowboy and Tribal lawyer Jack Lodge is desperately trying to block the development. And if that means playing hardball—and being every inch the shark lawyer—so be it. But Sophie is a distraction he didn’t expect. A distraction that makes his blood burn.

Two different worlds. Two opposing sides. And when they finally give into the exquisite temptation, the consequences will shake the foundations of both of their lives..

I  love a good small town cowboy hero contemporary romance, add in the fact that Jack is also a hot shot lawyer and single dad then I'm guaranteed to give Rebecca Zanetti's Against the Wall a go.

Although I did enjoy the romance it was all a little bit rushed for me and I thought the ending was maybe a bit too convenient. The whole surprise baby=guaranteed HEA doesn't always work for me. 3 out of 5.

Come Undone #2
Katee Robert
Publication date: 25th March 2013

It was only supposed to last one night...

Ian had no idea the sexy woman he took to his bed was his little sister's best friend--or that she'd refuse to give him more than one night.

Good thing this soldier likes a challenge...

I loved the first instalment in Katee Robert's Come Undone series Wrong Bed Right Guy and enjoyed this one too but overall it was more of a like rather than love kind of book for me.

Chasing Mrs Right's hero Ian is ex-military and finding it difficult to adjust to civilian life and Roxanne doesn't believe that love can last so they both have real issues and demons to deal with before they can commit to each other.

Although their chemistry was good I felt that I didn't quite 100% connect with them both, I was a bit conflicted with Chasing Mrs Right although I wanted the damaged hero to be saved by the love of a good woman and I wanted the commitment phobia heroine to find her Mr Right I also wanted them maybe to have to work a little bit harder at getting their much deserved HEA. For me, the story kind of it ran out of steam towards the end which was a real shame. In saying that, I liked it enough that I'll still give the next book in the series a go. 3.5 out of 5.

  2. I adored PWF, so glad you reviewed it. I actually separately recommended it in a comment, without realizing you had it on here (so you can tell I'm a fan, LOL)
